Wear OS3 is the next biggest ever update to wear OS from Google. Wear OS, formerly known as Android Wear, remained frustrating ever to the users. It has not paced up compared to its rivals.

However, things are changing now as Google and Samsung are coming together to provide outstanding performance to their users. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is already out with OS3.0, and the users’ interest has renewed in the wear OS. things are changing, and Google’s Wear OS is gaining momentum again. Wear OS 3 at a glance


Wear OS3 is the biggest ever update from Google. Both Google and Samsung are merging to take Wear OS to the next level by integrating Google’s Wear OS and Samsung’s Tizen OS. Previously, Wear OS and Tizen were a bit behind the track.

Now, pretty much everything is coming on the right track as Google and Samsung launch smartwatches with an integrated OS. Samsung has already launched its Galaxy Watch 4 with the new Wear OS 3. However, the other smartwatch brands will get the upgrade in 2022. The users are pretty satisfied with the quality and latest features of this watch.


Wear OS has been launched on the Galaxy Watch 4. However, wear brands such as Fossil and TicWatch devices will be receiving the update in 2022.


Wear OS 3 changes and updates


Google announced the new wear OS3 update and details at its developer conference. It revealed the details, and here are some of the major updates:


Improved performance


Google and Samsung unified their wear operating systems (OS) to build a new wear OS 3. Both Wear OS and Tizen have been struggling in the market for a long; the users were unsatisfied with the performances. However, the new OS update has improved a lot. It has an improved battery life that can stand for up to two days. Now, the battery is enough to track day and night heart rate. Further, the double-tap (similar to Google pixel double-tap) button allows you to switch between the apps.


Third-party tiling


Google has already opened up the API for its Tiles widgets to allow more custom tiles to run on new OS3. It works on third-party tiles with Sleep Cycle, Hole 19, Adidas Running, Calm, and others.


Samsung’s Bitmoji Watch faces feature.


The new Wear OS3 smartwatches will also have the Bitmoji watch faces feature, already being used on Samsung. This excellent feature allows you to customize and personalize free and premium watch faces; however, you can also make your watch faces using the creator tool. Ultimately, the new wear OS3 watches will use the Fitbit feature as it was.


Health Service Update


The primary purpose of Google and Samsung merging is to improve health services. James Park, CEO of Fitbit, announced that Fitbit would be enhancing the fitness tracking experience on the new Wear OS. Further, you can see heart rate data and Active Zone Minutes with the help of a snapshot.


Popular apps on Wear OS 3


As mentioned above, Google is already working on third-party tiles, and as a result, there will be a bunch of rebuilt apps like Strava, Sleep Cycle, Hole 19, Calm, and others. The Spotify app is supposed to be launched soon in the coming days; currently, this app is added to Apple Watch Spotify app.
