The Armor 8 Pro is a new tough smartphone from Ulefone. Unlike several recently released tough smartphones, the Ulefone Armor 8 Pro lacks any notable features or distinctive selling factors. It still strives hard to please a specific audience, but the result is an imbalanced setup. It's relatively powerful and reasonable. The phone comes up with a larger battery and adequate RAM, but unsurprisingly the low-res display and camera sensors have been slashed in price. When you glance at this phone, you'll immediately recognize that it's a rugged device. It has reinforced sides and corners and an overall look that screams rugged. The truth is, for a tough phone, the device looks extremely lovely. The Armor 8 Pro comes in three different color schemes: red, black, and orange.
Given that it's a tough smartphone, the bezels aren't overly thick, and a display camera hole is centered in the upper area of the screen. On the back, there are three cameras, and the entire backside design is intriguing. In the blog post below, we have mentioned the full specs and the other details of the Ulefone Armor 8 Pro.
Ulefone Armor 8 Pro Specs
A 6.1-inch HD+ (1560 x 720) LCD IPS display is included on the handset. 6GB of RAM and 128GB of extendable storage are also included. The device is powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 64-bit octa-core processor. This phone is rated IP68/IP69K and MIL-STD-810G, which means it is not only water and dust resistant, but it can also withstand certain physical damage. The package also includes a 5,580mAh battery that enables 15W rapid charging. It is compatible with 4G LTE connectivity. The phone features a side-facing fingerprint scanner as well as two SIM card slots.
The Ulefone Armor 8 Pro is 282 grams and is 166 x 81.8 x 15mm in dimensions. As a result, this device is not only big in size but somewhat heavy. The main camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels is accompanied by 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel (depth sensor) cameras. On the front of the phone, there is a single 8-megapixel camera. Face scanning is also possible with the front-facing camera. The Android 11 operating system is used by the Ulefone Armor 8 Pro rugged smartphone.
Ulefone Armor 8 Pro Price and Availability
It turns out that this smartphone is available in two different models from Ulefone. One has 6GB of RAM and is available on Amazon US at a $220 price. And other has 8GB of RAM which is available on Amazon US at $250 price. There are no additional differences besides the memory size (and price). We reviewed the first edition, however, given the minor price difference, we would strongly recommend the second.
Ulefone Armor 8 Pro Design
Ulefone kept things simple with an aluminum frame wrapped in TPU, glass fiber, and plastic (polycarbonate) with a touch of metal. For most of us seeking an IP68/MIL-STD-810 G-rated smartphone, this will be the well-suited one. The smartphone's size is also acceptable: it measures 166 x 82 x 15mm and weighs 282g. It's light enough to carry around. Three camera sensors, 16MP, 5MP, and 2MP, are located on the rear, backed by a single strong LED flash. A customizable button and a SIM tray are located on the left, while the volume rocker, power button, and fingerprint sensor are present on the right side of the handset. There's also a hidden USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio connector hidden behind a flap, and a lanyard loop.
Ulefone Armor 8 Pro Performance
The Ulefone Armor 8 Pro is powered by Android 11 and features a minimally altered user interface. The storage subsystem worked excellently for a sub-$200 smartphone, but performance results were inconsistent. When it comes to the preloaded software with the ubiquitous toolbox and its dozen or so capabilities, the phone gets the Mediatek treatment as promised. The display is brilliant and appears to be protected with an oleophobic layer, despite Ulefone not mentioning it in the specifications. Because of the low resolution of the screen, battery life should be longer than on a comparable device with a full HD display. Unfortunately, you won't be able to utilize two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time.
Ulefone Armor 8 Pro Hardware
Despite the fact that we reviewed the Ulefone Armor 8 Pro with 6GB of storage, we strongly suggest the 8GB variant. Both the models are powered by the Mediatek P60 system-on-chip, which includes an Arm Mali-G72 GPU and 128GB of eMMC storage. The battery of the Ulefone Armor 8 Pro is powered by a small 5V, 3A (15W) power source and is 5,580mAh. While NFC, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless connectivity are also available. There is no wireless or fast charging available in the handset, but there is a tempered glass screen protector included.
Conclusion
The Armor 8 Pro is the first rugged smartphone that costs less than $170 and contains 8GB of RAM. It has 128GB storage and runs on Android 11, which makes it an excellent choice for price-conscious business users and remote workers. The Ulefone Armor 8 Pro meets the very minimal requirements for good grades. However, it is reasonably priced and has a surprising amount of RAM, its screen quality, camera sensors, and outdated Bluetooth suggest that you should spend a little more to obtain a better overall experience.
